Wellness refers to a state of overall well-being, encompassing physical, mental, emotional, and social health. It’s more than just the absence of illness or disease; it involves actively pursuing activities and choices that promote a healthy and fulfilling life.

Wellness can include aspects like maintaining a balanced diet, regular exercise, managing stress, fostering positive relationships, engaging in meaningful activities, and finding a sense of purpose. It’s a holistic approach that recognises the interconnectedness of various aspects of one’s life and emphasises the importance of self-care and self-awareness.

The Global Wellness Institute (GWI) defines wellness as “the active pursuit of activities, choices, and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.” This definition emphasises the proactive nature of wellness, highlighting that it involves intentional actions and decisions aimed at achieving overall well-being across different dimensions of health.
